Something about India

This course is about India, it's about discovering India, using Amartya Sen’s pluralistic, multi-dimensional view of identity as a lens.

We will talk about people: what they do, what they speak, what they believe...

We will also talk about issues: caste, secularism...

There will be dance, literature, cinema, music, sport to bewitch and to entice, to question and to query, to inspire...

There will be work. It is like that only!

Somethings about India dives into the colourful, tangled, and sometimes messy world of identity in India, where language, caste, gender, religion, and class collide, mix, and shift over time. Inspired by Amartya Sen's take on how identities work, we will attempt to learn something about India, in the past and today.

Expect lively debates, creative group work, role-play, surprising case studies. Come ready to perform and dance, as we unpack how identities aren’t fixed, but constantly being shaped and reshaped. If you like thinking across boundaries, and challenging them, this course is for you.
