The French B1-B2 course takes place over 15 weeks and aims to immerse students in the French language with a native speaker, fostering a collegial atmosphere of active communication.
The language is developed through written and oral comprehension, as well as written production. The work is carried out by contextualizing French within fields such as culture, politics, and science. Students are also expected to express themselves in French within their own areas of expertise and interest.
Criterias : The student attends all sessions and demonstrates active participation and collaboration with other students and the instructor throughout the 2-hour class.
They review the materials provided in advance to prepare for the lesson and complete the assignments required for the following class.
Assessment :
Mid-Term Test: 30%
Four-part exam modeled on the DELF format. Assesses listening comprehension (CO), reading comprehension (CE), and written production (PE) using authentic materials related to the topics covered in class, as well as language structure (grammar and vocabulary) from the chapters studied during the first six weeks.
Individual Oral Assessment: 15%
The student analyzes an original French newspaper article on a recent current event related to the class topics. They then answer a few questions from the instructor. The student has 15 minutes of preparation time and 12 minutes for the exam.
Final Exam: 35%
Four-part exam modeled on the DELF format. Assesses listening comprehension and reading comprehension using authentic materials related to the topics covered in class, as well as language structure (grammar and vocabulary) from the chapters studied during the last seven weeks.
Cultural Oral Presentation: 20%
The student gives an oral presentation on a topic of their choice from the list of proposed themes. The 15-minute presentation is delivered in French, in front of the class, without notes, and includes a PowerPoint created by the student containing original documents and supporting materials.
