PHY_51058_EP - Nuclear Reactors
The course presents the main types of nuclear reactors and the basic principles of their operation through an introduction to reactor physics (nuclear physics, radioactivity, neutron-matter interactions, neutronics, criticality, reactor kinetics, fuel depletion). It does not require any fundamental prerequisites, but a good knowledge of basic physics is necessary. The advanced course “Nuclear Reactor Technology and Fuel Cycle” (PHY_52186_EP) and the course “Application of Fluid Mechanics in the Energy Field” (MEC_52066_EP) are relevant complements to this course.
