This new course offers a ten-week exploration of sporting cultures across the Anglophone world, with the objective of improving language skills while discovering how sports reflect and shape cultural identities.

Activities will include analysing sports commentary, discussing match highlights, debating controversial sports topics, and creating presentations about athletes, teams and cultures. Through activities in pairs and groups, as well as some individual tasks, we will work on all four skills: speaking, reading, writing and listening. Students will develop vocabulary related to sports while improving their comprehension and communication skills through engaging with a range of compelling authentic materials, such as recent matches and sports documentaries.

Students will be graded in the following way:

  • 50% individual/group presentations
  • 50% participation
