The aim of this course is to learn how to see architecture, in other words to enable each individual to perceive their environment in an independent and informed manner.
This visual awareness will be developed throughout the semester in the following ways:
- Study of architecture, landscape and urban planning from a historical perspective, enabling students to understand contemporary issues, including ecological ones.
- Analysis of exceptional or ordinary architectural and urban achievements on a global scale, from different points of view: space, social context, load-bearing structure, aesthetic movement, technical progress.
- Field trips to practise understanding a building through observation, walking and drawing.
